Dear Homeowners,

The HOA Board has contacted ACHD asking when they have plans to snow plow our primary streets here in the Banbury Meadows Community.  Their response is provided below, indicating that they will eventually begin plowing residential streets however their priority must first be given to keeping clear primary city and county roads.  The bottom line is the timing for ACHD to clear/plow our community streets is unknown and impossible to predict based on our recent weather conditions.  ACHD’s response to our inquiry is provided below for your information only:
******** ACHD’s Response *******
Thank you for getting in touch with Ada County Highway District. In light of the ongoing challenges posed by winter weather, we implemented 24-hour operations last week with two crews alternating in 12-hour shifts until further notice. As of midnight on 1/15/2024, our crews have commenced plowing in subdivisions, and this effort will persist until completion or until the occurrence of the next snowfall. In the latter case, plows will prioritize working on our priority 1 and 2 routes before returning, if necessary, to address subdivisions (the priority 3 routes).

We understand the unpredictability of weather conditions and genuinely appreciate your patience as we navigate and respond to the challenges presented by changing weather patterns. We have sixty-seven (67) winter operations units out on the roadways, forty-three (43) of them are equipped with plows. Please understand, that plow drivers frequently need to depart to replenish materials before returning to resume clearing roadways. We are unable to predict when we will be in a specific subdivision due to all the possible variables.

If you have any additional questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out. For roadway emergencies beyond regular hours, during weekends, or holidays, please contact Ada County Dispatch at 208-377-6790. They will promptly connect with our on-call crew to address any concerns that may arise.

Balancing the expectations of over 500,000 Ada County residents presents its challenges, and we sincerely appreciate your patience during this winter season.
Your understanding and cooperation are crucial as we work to ensure the safety and functionality of the roadways in the face of challenging weather conditions. Don’t hesitate to contact us for further assistance or information.
Sincerely,

ACHD Maintenance Department

********  End of Response *******
Given the above information, and the severe conditions of our snow-covered streets, the Board of Directors has issued a contract with an independent contractor to perform “basic snow plowing” of our streets tomorrow, Thursday, 18 January.  The exact time this service will be performed is not known, however, it will be completed as soon as possible on that day.  Please note this service will include what is considered “standard snow plowing only” which is needed to improve the condition of our streets.  Keep in mind that some of the snow moved from the streets will unavoidably end up along our street curbs and on our sidewalks (and possibly on our yards).
In support of this project, we must ask our homeowners to NOT park their cars on our community streets for the entire day, Thursday, 18 January.  Doing so will impede the ability of the snow plows to perform their service and could result in cars becoming blocked or snowbound on the street.
If you have any questions or need further details concerning this project, please contact Development Services at 208-939-6000.
We want to thank you for your support and understanding as we attempt to improve the condition of our snow-covered streets.
