********************* ORIGINAL NOTICE *********

Dear Homeowners,

Your Board of Directors want to make you aware of a Test Maintenance Project, pertaining to a portion of our HOA Common Area/Property, that will be implemented between Monday, 13 November through approximately Monday, the 20th of November.

As you may know, the Association owns and is responsible for the maintenance of the Stream starting from behind the Golf Course 16th Forward Tee Box running to Chipper Way, and the Pond/Lake which is located between Chipper Way and north to the point Whiff/Colchester Drive meet.  Both of these waterways are part of our Association’s Common Area and are a key source of water for our residential Irrigation System.

You may not be aware that it is important that the Association maintain the banks of these waterways and ensure the water flows freely and is unobstructed.   To achieve this goal the HOA has annually cut down and removed tall weeds and brush along the banks, and removed debris from the stream bed when required.

In the past, this maintenance process involved using manual labor to cut down and remove unwanted vegetation using power-operated equipment.  Unfortunately, this method also results in a significant amount of debris unavoidably being deposited into the stream and waterway, thereby hindering water flow.

As a test in an effort to improve this process, and to determine its effectiveness, the Board has decided to contract/employ the services of a local company called “GOATS ON THE GO” (GOTG).  As seen throughout the valley, this company has been successful in using their herd of goats to graze weeds and unwanted plant debris from roadsides, fields, and most recently along the Boise Mesa (Table Rock area).

Once the livestock arrives on site, and to ensure the safety of the grazing animals, and members of our community, the owners of the livestock have provided the following guidelines we must ask everyone to be aware of and follow:

  • The herd will be confined in a specific area (around the Stream) using electrified fencing.
  • The company will conduct periodic visits to the site to monitor the grazing activities (however will not be onsite 24/7).
  • Please note, the livestock herders will be conducting health and welfare visits to the site off and on, day and night (including late evening and early morning hours).
  • Signage will be placed around the grazing area warning people that an electric fence barrier is in use and must be avoided.
  • Local residents are requested to keep their children, and domestic pets, (dogs, etc.,) away from the grazing herd.  Off-leash dogs are the biggest concern as they can cause injury to themselves and the livestock if allowed to roam freely within the grazing site.
  • Feeding the goats is strictly prohibited as doing so will distract them from performing their grazing activities and can have a negative impact on the livestock’s health.
  • Opportunity to meet the GOTG – – GOTG would like to invite interested homeowners (and their immediate family members) to the grazing site from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM, on Tuesday, 14 November, to meet the herding staff and raise any questions you may have concerning the livestock and grazing project.

For your information below is a plot map of the general area that will be serviced by GOTG.  The specific area to be grazed is the banks of the stream which runs the entire length of the right side of the map.  The Waterway on the other side of Chipper Way will NOT be serviced this season.

If you have any questions or need further details concerning this project please contact our Association Manager, Jean Cariaga, DSI, at 208-939-6000.

Thank you.
